I want to begin by saying one thing : NEVER post in anger and always give grace !
I mention this because 5 months ago my husband and I left a bad review and we have since come to regret sincerely. I have deleted it and am reposting. We had attempted to get our dog seen as a walk in and became upset we waited for hours and didn’t get seen. And I wish we had never let our anger get to us. I truly hope this revised review can repair some of the damage !
Last year , November 2025, Dr Pope saw my hedgehog , diagnosed her with a severe nutrient deficiency and helped me fix her up and make her very well again. The staff was amazing and you could tell he loved his job. I was beyond pleased! Fast forward to March of this year , time of the unfortunate incident, and I was so upset ( sleep deprived and stressed in my defense ) that my husband and I couldn’t get our senior dog seen that day. I never stopped to consider all the factors and instead, wrote something I regret ! Even though Dr Pope didn’t see our dog that day , he was kind enough to personally text me and tell me his concerns and what we should do. Our dog hadn’t even seen him , that day, before or since , and yet he was nice and caring enough to follow up and have us explore what was likely wrong. I never responded that day and regret this as well!
Almost two weeks ago , my hedgehog was acutely ill again, late one Sunday evening , and we had no option but to take her to an emergency vet who diagnosed her with a tooth abscess ! They faxed her visit records over to Dr Pope and by 830 that Monday morning he was texting me , telling me he was very concerned she in fact had a form of oral cancer that hedgehogs are susceptible to and he would like to see her ASAP. This exceptional care and concern did not go unnoticed and I made an appointment for later that week , which I planned on doing regardless, tail tucked between my legs , because I felt so guilty for my previous review 🙁. Thursday we were in his office and the staff was once again so very kind and considerate, and Dr Pope treated my baby like his own. The plan was to watch her weight , text him on his personal phone day or night and that we would essentially navigate this together, crossing the bridge of treatment and possible palliative care when needed. Unfortunately she declined relatively quick, and I made the choice to come back in today. He felt she had some more time , but that quality and suffering could be an issue , and I made the choice to have her euthanized this afternoon. Kindness and compassion are something this office excels in, I can’t stress this enough. They allowed us to be with her as they got her comfortable and asleep , and we opted to leave prior to the procedure being done. I was a wreck , they allowed me to cry and grieve and did everything right. Dr Pope said to us as we left that we were ‘good people ‘ and stressed several times how we gave her a great life . She was very important to me and as much as it hurt to have to do this , it went as well as something like this could have
I cannot say it enough: I have nothing but good things to say about Dr Pope and ALL of his staff ! I wish I could repay them the kindness they showed us, and I hope other people who haven’t been here before and are searching for a good veterinary hospital give them the chance to take care of their animals ❤️❤️❤️❤️.
My 5yo CAG parrot had a cough and losing weight. Heart and lungs sound good, coughing believed to be mimicking (haha) I kind of figured this one. He gave me his personal number to send a video. She only does her very seldom and not long enough to get a good video so I still think it’s mimicking. Will send video if i ever get a good one lol. Weight loss? From changing from complete seed diet to healthier diet and lots of bad bacteria causing diarrhea. Antibiotics for 10 day, on day 4 and her poop has firmed up. So we are healing nicely. They are so knowledgeable and the care shines through them. They are the most welcoming and caring people from the front all the way to the Dr himself. We live an hour and a half away and I he gave me his personal phone number just in case I needed it. Couldn’t have asked for anyone better.
